$10.5 Million Awarded to Paralyzed Man
Mr. McNeil was a 65-year old security officer in South Florida. On his way home from work, a distracted tourist cut into his lane and drove him into a concrete embankment. Mr McNeil suffered a serious spinal cord injury — he was left a quadriplegic. The insurer for the tourist denied fault and offered $300K. Skip Pita tried the case to the jury. After a week-long trial, the jury awarded Mr. McNeil and his wife $12 million, placing 90% of the fault on the tourist. Thanks to the result, Mr. McNeil has and will continue to receive the necessary home care, medical attention, and other attention that, unfortunately, he requires because of the tragedy.
It was an honor to represent Mr. McNeil and his wife, and help guide them through this tragedy.
