PWD Wins $820,000 Verdict in Broken Ankle Case
PWD obtained a verdict for $820,000 in the Miami-Dade County Courthouse.
PWD represented Rafael Sorondo, whose ankle was severely fractured in a high energy crash in 2019.
Navigating courthouse shutdowns and other Pandemic-related delays, PWD moved the case to trial efficiently.
The case began as a red light-green light swearing match. PWD worked hard to prove the truth through tracking down witnesses revealed on 911 Calls, expert interpretation of the light sequencing at the intersection, and obtaining Miami Police body cameras from the crash scene. The defense finally crumbled and admitted fault shortly before trial.
In closing arguments, PWD asked for $875,000 in damages. The Defense argued for no more than $365,000. The jury awarded $810,000, clearly finding PWD’s evidence more powerful and persuasive.
We are honored to have had the privilege of presenting Mr. Sorondo’s case and for him having entrusting us to get to the truth.
