Redemption for Truck Driver. PWD Recovers $275,000
This is a story of redemption. This is the story of Ernesto Ramos. Mr Ramos immigrated to this country from Cuba in 2001. After years of low paying commercial trucking jobs, Mr. Ramos finally bought a rig in 2012. Finally, in 2017, he landed a contract hailing Chiquita bananas from Port Everglades to the Publix distribution Headquarters in Lakeland. He was making good money. Finally.
Then, late one night on March 19, 2018, he was in a major crash on Highway 71 with another semi truck while on his way to Lakeland with a full load of bananas.
Mr. Ramos endured a serious neck injury, for which he had an operation, but perhaps worse his pride and joy — his 1993 International rig was destroyed.
Mr. Ramos, who speaks no English, was not able to explain the events to the investigating police officer. The police officer blamed him for the crash as did the other driver. The other driver, incidentally, was fired by his own employer company the very next day.
Mr. Ramos came to PWD to help him uncover the truth and to get his life back on track. PWD immediately went to work securing witnesses and doing a full, professional crash reconstruction.
In the meantime, Mr. Ramos bumped around from job to job without a rig. He worked at a chicken farm, he worked overseeing a truck yard, and he even went back to Cubs to see if you could find work there. He went through periods of unemployment.
Finally, bluebird trucking hired Mr. Ramos in 2020. He was driving a truck again. And then, in June 2020, PWD recovered $275,000 for Mr. Ramos.
Now, Mr. Ramos has the Resources to buy his own rig again and once again lead an independent and productive life.
Mr. Ramos is a proud man. He’s proud of his son, who join the Marine Corps and is now a Harvard University lawsuit, and still a Marine.
We are honored to have Represented and helped Mr Ramos in his redemption.
